Naples where to stay

If you are planning on visiting Naples, where to stay must be one of the very first things you must think about. This gorgeous city in the south of Italy is one of the best destinations you could possibly choose for your holidays because there you will find lots of historic places, some extremely great sights, the most incredible, delicious food you have ever tried and, best of all, the warmest, nicest people you could hope to find who will make you feel welcomed, humbled and extremely special.

In Naples, where to stay depends on what you are hoping to do. If you wish to be close to all the most popular and interesting places, the historic center is one of the best areas you could stay in because that is very close to all the main sights of the city. In fact, one of the most popular streets in Naples, known as Spaccanapoli (which could be translated as Naples Splitter), is right there. This is a straight and narrow street that traverses the old, historic center of the city and which is one of the most important ones in Naples.

You can find some extremely charming churches in Naples and most of them are very close to Spaccanapoli, such as Santa Chiara (where you can find tombs and an archaeological museum), Santa Marta (which was built in the 14th Century), San Domenico Maggiore (which was completed in 1324) and Santi Filippo e Giacomo (a beautiful Renaissance style, Roman Catholic church). The best thing about all these churches is that they are very close to each other and you can visit them for free.

During your stay in Naples, where to stay will be extremely important because, by finding accommodation far from the historic center, you might not have enough time to visit all the sights you should check out before leaving. That is why, staying in Spaccanapoli is ideal, because apart from all those churches, you will also find some palaces such as Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo Carafa della Spina, Palazzo del Panormita and Palazzo del Panormita along the most famous street in the whole of Naples.

At the eastern end of Spaccanapoli you will find one of the many original sights you can see in the city which is the Ospedale delle Bambole (Dolls’ Hospital). This is a shop where, if you are into dolls, you can buy hundreds of different doll parts: from heads, to arms and legs. The staff is extremely helpful which means they will help you find anything you may need and, if you visit just to take a look, not only will they allow you to do so, they will also very gently show you around.

Speaking of dolls, one of the side streets of Spaccanapoli is one of the most visited places in the city, Via San Gregorio Armeno. This is an extremely narrow and charming street where, throughout the year, you can see artisans working on the nativities they will very proudly display outside their little stores. This street is heaven for those people who love Christmas and like buying new little things for their nativities but, also, you can just go and take a look because most of these artisans create small figurines of some of the year’s most popular celebrities.

Another incredible place you will have the opportunity to visit if you stay close to Spaccanapoli is Naples Underground. Many people who visit Naples don’t know, but forty meters below the lively streets of the city lies another city which was built over 2,400 years ago and which you can visit every day of the year with the help of a guide that will explain you everything there is to know either in English or in Italian. You will be able to walk through all the narrow corridors and explore the isolated city underground.

Close to Via Nilo, another one of the many side streets you will find in Spaccanapoli, you will come across the Sansevero Chapel Museum (which was created by Raimondo di Sangro, the seventh Prince of Sansevero) where you will get a taste of baroque creativity, dynastic pride, beauty and mystery. This beautiful chapel houses some masterpieces known the world over such as the Veiled Christ, the Disillusion and the Anatomical Machines. This museum is open every day apart from Tuesdays and, for a little fee that will cost you about €7, you will be able to admire the previously mentioned art pieces and some others.

If Naples sounds like your ideal holiday destination and you want to make it a reality, you really should stay in Spaccanapoli to make the most of your trip. As well as all the sights you have read about, there are many other places of high interest in the city such as Piazza Plebiscito, Castel Dell’Ovo and the Maschio Angioino. But there are also many exclusive stores in streets such as Via Chiaia where you can do some serious shopping. You can easily reach all these places from Spaccanapoli by using the public transport you will find very close to our bed & breakfast.

That is why we invite you to book a room in our central and lovely bed & breakfast in Via Tribunali where you will have an extremely comfortable room and the chance to enjoy various amenities as well as be served some healthy and delicious breakfast every morning before you start your excursions around the city. If you have any questions you would like to ask us, feel free to contact us and we will get back to you to solve every single one of your doubts and to make your stay with us as special as it should be.
